• DO keep workers and other stakeholders updated on your environmental protection program.

• DO assign an individual(s) responsible (committee, manager, etc.) for overseeing that the environmental policies, procedures and systems are in place and  functioning.

• DO install and maintain pollution control or treatment systems such as air scrubbers or wastewater treatment facilities asneeded to meet discharge or emission standards. Treatment facilities and equipment should be in good operating condition, with the appropriate performance parameters monitored by qualified personnel.

• DO conduct analysis of wastes (including sludge) to determine appropriate waste classification (hazardous vs. non hazardous).

• DO send any hazardous waste to a fully licensed waste handler. Factory should maintain records on the disposal method, destination and transportation method for hazardous waste, even if it is handled by suppliers, qualified contractors, etc.

• DO ensure all bulk hazardous material storage tanks are properly managed. This includes secondary containment (that can contain at least 110% of the volume of the largest container stores in the area), fill points within the secondary containment, separation of incompatible materials, spill clean up procedures/emergency action plans, proper signage, protection from direct sunlight or other weather conditions, and security to prevent accidental damage or unauthorized entry.

• DO maintain an inventory of all sources and volumes of hazardous waste generated by the facility.

• DO store hazardous waste in containers that are separated from ordinary waste, clearly and properly marked, protected fromthe weather, protected from fire risk, stored on solid ground, in good condition, closed, and in areas that are appropriately ventilated.
